Abstract

This study aims to describe the speaking skills of Grade III A students at SD Negeri 1 Srandakan through the utilization of local wisdom-based image media. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, data collection was conducted via observation, interviews, and documentation involving 24 students. The results revealed a diverse ability profile: 6 students (25%) were in the good category, 10 students (41.7%) were sufficient, and 8 students (33.3%) were in the poor category. The primary obstacles identified were limited vocabulary and a lack of self-confidence when performing in front of the class. The implementation of local visual media, supported by group work strategies and parental collaboration, proved effective in stimulating students' enthusiasm and courage to tell stories. However, students in the poor category still demonstrated dependency on teacher guidance. It is concluded that local wisdom-based media is effective as a tool for strengthening cultural identity and triggering verbal interaction, though it requires intensive guidance for students with specific learning barriers.
