Desain Instrumen Diagnostik Berbasis Two-Tier untuk Mendeteksi Miskonsepsi Materi Wujud Zat Siswa SD Muhammadiyah Ambarbinangun

This study aims to develop a two-tier diagnostic test instrument to identify misconceptions among fourth-grade elementary school students regarding the topic of states of matter. The instrument is designed to assess not only the students’ answers but also the reasoning behind their choices, enabling a deeper understanding of their conceptual thinking. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving stages such as concept identification, item development, expert validation, and a limited trial with students. Validation was conducted by subject matter experts and education specialists to evaluate the appropriateness of the test items in terms of content, language clarity, and diagnostic capability. The trial results indicated that the developed instrument effectively revealed various types of misconceptions, such as misunderstandings related to changes in the state of matter and the factors influencing these changes. This diagnostic tool is expected to be beneficial for teachers as a formative evaluation resource in science instruction at the elementary level.
